Professional Background

  • Senior PHP Developer with over 20 years of experience building, maintaining, and modernising PHP-based web applications, with a strong focus on CodeIgniter with some laravel experience, and API-driven backend systems. I specialise in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that support long-term business and technology goals.
  • I have extensive experience in RESTful API development, including API design, versioning, authentication and authorisation (JWT, OAuth 2.0), third-party integrations, and performance optimisation. Much of my work has involved evolving legacy PHP systems into clean, service-oriented architectures while maintaining stability and reliability in production environments.
  • Alongside hands-on development, I bring strong technical leadership and with mentoring experience. I regularly support developers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical coaching, and I enjoy helping teams raise engineering standards and confidence. I’m comfortable acting as a senior technical point of contact while remaining actively involved in day-to-day coding.
  • I have worked extensively in Agile / Scrum environments, collaborating closely with product owners, QA, DevOps, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. I value pragmatic delivery, clean code, automated testing, and secure development practices, and I focus on building systems that teams can confidently maintain and extend.
  • I am particularly interested in permanent senior developer roles where I can contribute long-term value, mentor engineers, and help organisations strengthen both their technology and their people. I hold active Security Clearance (SC).
  • Key skills: PHP, Laravel, CodeIgniter, RESTful APIs, Backend Development, API Integration, JWT, OAuth 2.0, Legacy Modernisation, Code Reviews, Mentoring, Agile Delivery, CI/CD, Secure Coding.

My Work Ethics

  • I am committed to reaching the pinnacle of my profession through dedication, continuous learning, and relentless hard work.
  • I lead by example and excel at mentoring others, using everyday tasks to make complex concepts more accessible, even to those with less experience.
  • Witnessing a new team, unfamiliar with Agile, transform into a highly proficient unit within just a few sprints is incredibly rewarding.
  • I consistently deliver high-quality work on time and within budget, ensuring efficiency and reliability in every project I undertake.
  • I ensure that every aspect of work remains trackable by leveraging ticketing systems such as Jira or Azure DevOps to maintain transparency and efficiency.
  • I enjoy using Confluence or Wiki to document and share key information, ensuring accessibility and collaboration across teams.
  • As a Senior PHP/C# Developer I ensure that work is done to the correct Standards via Code reviews and demostrations.
  • I believe in spreading my knowledge not only about software engineering but also regarding my Agile Experience as an Agile Coach and Scrum Master.
  • I always lead by example, I always try to make sure the I can visually show what I am explaining to make it easier to understand and to visually digest the pros and cons.
  • I am always trying to improve developement proformance by looking for any bottlenecks in the team structure that may cause a blocker in the future, then trying to find a team member ideally a developer to understand the testing process. This will allows them to learn new skills. Reason for this is a developers skills are T'Shaped which means they have the knowledge and abiltity to handle the request with little or know impact on team proformance when members are off. This is not the same for testers sad to say.
